Questlove Announced As Executive Music Producer For ‘Roots’ Remake

A&E Networks’ just revealed the executive music producer for its remake of Roots, it is none other then Questlove. Yes the drummer and music extraordinaire from The Roots. The Grammy winner will create the authentic African sound and theme music for the characters in the four-night, eight-hour miniseries. He will also produce the overall sound as the music progresses each night.

A&E also announced that directors Phillip Noyce, who directed Patriot Games and Thomas Carter, who directed Coach Carter will direct nights one and three of the miniseries. Directors for nights two and four have yet to be announced.

Roots will be an A&E Studios production with the company that produced the original TV series. Will Packer LeVar Burton serve as executive producers.
