will.i.am Accuses Pharrell Of Trademark Infringement

Producer will.i.am made news after a report was released today (June 26) revealing that he is taking legal action against fellow versatile producer Pharrell Williams. In a court statement, the Black Eyed Peas front man accuses Skateboard P of lifting the idea of the logo for his i am OTHER YouTube channel from him.  Rolling Stone obtained copies of the court documents where will.i.am., born William Adams, says Pharrell’s brand conflicts with his “I AM” phrase and branding, which he claims ownership of. Noting in the documents that his phrase and Pharrell’s logo are “confusingly similar,” will.i.am views this as a challenge to any future clothing and business endeavors for both parties. Pharrell has responded to the notice of opposition via a filing by his lawyers that refutes will.i.am’s claims It appears that an amicable solution may take time to achieve. “I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me,” Pharrell said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will’s trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do.” So far, both camps have yet to issue further statements regarding the case. – See more at: http://hiphopwired.com/2013/06/26/will-i-am-accuses-pharrell-of-trademark-infringement/#sthash.J765ESwh.dpuf
