Jamaica-born Lowell Hawthorne, CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, is dead.
Reports reaching The Gleaner are that Hawthorne died earlier today, after suffering a gunshot wound.
However, the circumstances around the incident were not immediately clear.
Hawthorne’s Golden Krust is the largest Caribbean franchise chain in the United States, with more than 120 stores in areas such as New York and Florida.
Often referred to as the ‘Patty King’, he is regularly cited as an example of Jamaican entrepreneurial success overseas.
